Iâve been working on our 7 minute demo for the FreightWaves Transparency 19 conference. You might think that as CTO I would focus on the cool technology here at HubTran. While we have great technology like Elm on the front end, I wonât be mentioning it. The technology isnât whatâs important, itâs the value we deliver that matters.
Maybe youâve experienced this in other places in your life. I recently had to make a change to my AT&T account that required me to go into a store. The change seemed simple. I just needed to move the account from my wifeâs name to my name. I assumed it would take just a couple of minutes. Instead, it took more than an hour. The folks at the store were friendly and apologetic. They told me all about how their system worked and what they had to do. They missed the fact that I donât really care. I want the account name changed. I donât care about how it gets done. It doesnât matter to me if they fax paperwork to an office, or type on an iPad. Thatâs all internal to them. I just want the change made.
Thatâs the same way I feel for our customers. Sure, we have amazing technology that does cool stuff. At the end of the day though, what matters to our customers is that they can do their job faster, easier and with fewer errors. It wouldnât matter if we solved their problems with a pile of interns (we donât) or some interesting algorithms (we do). They donât need to see into the box. They just want us to make their lives better. So thatâs what Iâm going to talk about.
Are you a developer who likes to do the behind the scenes work to help people? Weâre looking to hire you!
