In the middle of a hurricane.
HubTran makes it possible.

Severe hurricanes and natural disasters happen, and when they do, most companies struggle to maintain continuity of operations. Single Point Capital, a Houston transportation factoring company, bore the brunt of Hurricane Harvey in 2017. Luckily, with partners like HubTran on their side, Single Point was able to weather the storm and come out stronger.

Before using HubTran, Single Point relied on manual processes that required humans to print and scan documents. Some employees were skeptical about using HubTran, but, says Single Point VP of Operations Tom Croteau, “…the (Hurricane Harvey) experience forced us to really embrace and use HubTran for what it could be.”

“Companies don’t think about these situations until they happen”, notes Croteau. When Hurricane Harvey was approaching, he began to plan for contingencies including a call to HubTran. “I knew if we could maintain access to email, CADENCE, and Hub-
Tran we’d be in the best possible position to weather the storm.”

Employee well-being was Single Point’s top priority as Harvey approached, so they closed their office and sent team members home. However, clients all over the country still counted on Single Point to deliver for them; Hurricane Harvey posed a clear and present danger to Single Point’s business.

Croteau points out, “HubTran allowed our business to survive Hurricane Harvey. There is no way we could have operated through the storm without them. We kept the operation going with just 20% of our people working remotely. In one case, even an untrained user was up and running with the system the same day. Our invoice processing volume was at 80% of normal with the 20% drop being entirely the result of local carriers who weren’t in operation.”

Single Point knows a disaster like Hurricane Harvey is a rarity, but it’s made them re-think every aspect of their business. Croteau concludes, “Most importantly, now we know we have a great contingency plan and are better positioned to manage our business on a daily basis, too.”
